Rabat Shocked Me: Ancient Yet Modern, I Didn’t Expect This

After the intensity of Morocco’s larger cities, Rabat felt like a completely different experience. The traffic was calmer, the streets were cleaner, and riding through the capital felt far more relaxed than I expected.

I made my way through the city on my Africa Twin, passing wide avenues, modern buildings and the enormous walls surrounding Rabat’s historic districts. The contrast was striking—one moment I was riding through a modern capital, and the next I was walking between ancient ruins and narrow streets that had stood for centuries.

I explored the Kasbah of the Udayas, with its blue-and-white houses overlooking the Atlantic, before visiting the ruins of Chellah. Away from the traffic, the old stone walls, gardens and remains of past civilizations offered a much quieter side of Morocco.

Rabat surprised me. It may not have the chaos of Marrakesh or the size and intensity of Casablanca, but it has something those cities often lack: space to slow down and take everything in. Ancient walls, modern streets and a calm atmosphere—Rabat was one of Morocco’s most pleasant surprises.

I’ll be documenting this adventure along the way — the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africa’s deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. I’ll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.

So, come along for the ride — the long way through Africa.

Peace!
