Crossing Into Mauritania 🇲🇷

After travelling the length of Morocco and Western Sahara, I finally reached the border with Mauritania. Crossing it marked a significant turning point in the journey. Morocco had given me chaotic cities, mountain roads, Atlantic coastlines and vast desert landscapes, but now I was leaving the familiarity of North Africa behind and entering a country that felt far more remote and unpredictable.

The border crossing was not simply a matter of passing through a checkpoint. Between the two countries lies a rough and confusing stretch of no-man’s-land, where the paved road disappears and travellers must navigate through sand, rocks and unmarked tracks. After the formalities, paperwork and uncertainty, finally reaching the Mauritanian side brought a mixture of relief and excitement.

This was the end of one chapter, but also the beginning of the journey I had been preparing for. Ahead lay long desert roads, military checkpoints, isolated towns and some of Mauritania’s most extraordinary landscapes. Crossing the border made the scale of the expedition feel real: I was no longer simply riding through Morocco—I was continuing deeper into Africa.

I’ll be documenting this adventure along the way — the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africa’s deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. I’ll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.

So, come along for the ride — the long way through Africa.

Peace!
