Riding Through Cameroon 🇨🇲 Under Military Escort & My Escape from It

After crossing from Nigeria into Cameroon through Ekok, I entered one of the most intense and unpredictable chapters of the entire African journey. This was no longer just another border crossing—it was the beginning of Central Africa, a region where security concerns, remote roads and limited infrastructure make every decision more important.

Shortly after entering Cameroon, I found myself travelling through an area affected by militia activity, where security was taken extremely seriously. Armed checkpoints appeared along the route, and military presence became a normal part of the journey. At one point, the safest option was to stay with a military convoy moving through the region.

But travelling by motorcycle means constantly making difficult decisions. The convoy offered security, but it also meant following someone else’s schedule and route. Eventually, I made the choice to leave the convoy behind and continue riding independently—a decision that carried its own risks, but also reflected the reality of a solo expedition where every choice has consequences.

The road ahead took me deeper into Cameroon, through lush landscapes, forests and small communities far removed from the busy cities of Nigeria. The contrast was immediate. The noise and density of southern Nigeria disappeared, replaced by a much wilder and more isolated environment.

Cameroon’s beauty was obvious from the first kilometres. Green hills, tropical vegetation and remote villages created a completely different atmosphere from everything I had experienced before. But behind the incredible scenery was the understanding that this was a country where preparation and awareness mattered.

This crossing became one of the most memorable moments of the journey—not because of a famous landmark, but because of the uncertainty, the decisions and the responsibility that comes with riding alone through challenging regions.

Entering Cameroon was not just another country added to the map. It was the moment when the expedition moved into a different level of adventure: fewer guarantees, more risks and some of the most unforgettable experiences of the entire ride ahead.

I’ll be documenting this adventure along the way — the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africa’s deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. I’ll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.

So, come along for the ride — the long way through Africa.

Peace!
