Congo’s 🇨🇬 Final Stretch — Pointe-Noire and the Road to Angola

After a long journey through the Republic of the Congo, I was finally making my way toward Pointe-Noire, the country’s main coastal city and the last major stop before continuing south toward Angola.

The ride to Pointe-Noire had already become one of the most memorable parts of my journey across Africa. After weeks of riding through Central Africa, dealing with borders, unpredictable roads, heat and endless kilometres on the motorcycle, arriving on the Atlantic coast felt like another small milestone. Congo had surprised me more than once — not only with its landscapes, but also with the people I met along the way and some genuinely enjoyable stretches of road.

Pointe-Noire was also a practical stop. Before heading toward another border, I wanted to make sure the Africa Twin was ready for what was coming next, so finding a mechanic and giving the bike some attention became part of the visit. When you travel this far alone on a motorcycle, small mechanical problems can quickly become big ones, especially once you leave the larger cities behind.

There wasn’t much time to settle in, though. My next destination was already waiting: Cabinda, the Angolan enclave squeezed between the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Crossing into Angola would mean another border, another set of paperwork and another completely new chapter of the journey.

At this stage of the trip, the distances on the map were becoming almost secondary. Every border brought a different experience, every country had its own rhythm, and plans could change very quickly once I was actually on the road.

Pointe-Noire marked the end of my ride through Congo-Brazzaville, but definitely not the end of Central Africa. From here, the journey would continue south through Cabinda and eventually deeper into Angola.
