Crossing the Congo ๐จ๐ฌ Solo by Motorcycle โ The Complete Journey
Crossing the Republic of the Congo became one of the most memorable parts of my entire journey across Africa. What I expected to be another difficult and unpredictable stretch of Central Africa turned into one of the biggest surprises of the trip.
This full-length movie follows my complete ride across Congo-Brazzaville, from entering the country through the remote northern border and continuing toward Ouesso, all the way south through the vast interior to Brazzaville and eventually west to Pointe-Noire on the Atlantic coast.
Much of the journey took me through seemingly endless rainforest, isolated villages and huge stretches of road with very little traffic or infrastructure. Some sections felt incredibly remote, yet I was surprised by the quality of many of the roads. Newly built tarmac cut through areas where I had expected mud, broken tracks and much slower progress.
The riding itself became one of the highlights. Long open roads, tropical landscapes and small communities along the way made Congo feel completely different from many of the places I had already travelled through in Africa. I met welcoming people, stopped in villages rarely visited by foreign travellers and experienced a side of the country that most people never get to see.
The journey was not without its challenges. Riding alone meant dealing with extreme heat, long distances between towns and very limited places to find food, fuel or accommodation. In a country this large, even a relatively simple day on the map could turn into hours of riding through complete isolation.
One of the unexpected highlights was spending a night at an extraordinary retreat hidden deep in the Congolese countryside. After days on the motorcycle, it was a surreal contrast to the remote roads surrounding it and one of the most unusual places I stayed during the entire African journey.
From there, I continued toward Brazzaville, explored the capital and eventually followed the road west toward Pointe-Noire. Reaching the Atlantic coast marked the end of my ride across Congo-Brazzaville and the beginning of the next stage of the journey.
What stayed with me most was how different the reality of Congo was from the image I had formed before arriving. It was challenging, remote and sometimes exhausting, but it was also beautiful, welcoming and incredibly rewarding to ride through.
This movie brings together the entire journey into one story โ from the northern border to Ouesso, across the interior to Brazzaville, and finally to Pointe-Noire on the coast.
For me, the Republic of the Congo became one of the biggest surprises of Africa and one of the countries I will remember most from the entire journey.
Iโll be documenting this adventure along the way โ the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africaโs deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. Iโll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.
So, come along for the ride โ the long way through Africa.
Peace!
