Met Camels on the Beach & Found Sultan’s Ruins - Essaouira 🇲🇦
Riding into Essaouira, I expected Atlantic views, strong coastal winds and the distinctive atmosphere of one of Morocco’s best-known seaside towns. What I found was a place that felt completely different from the noise and intensity of Marrakesh. The pace was slower, the air cooler and the road into the city offered a welcome change after days spent further inland.
Along the coast, I came across camels resting on the beach—a scene that somehow felt perfectly natural here. Beyond the busy parts of the city, I also explored the remains of Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah’s old palace at Diabat. The ruins are slowly being reclaimed by sand and vegetation, leaving behind crumbling walls, arches and fragments of a place that once carried far greater importance.
Essaouira was not about dramatic roads or difficult riding. It was a quieter chapter of the journey: ocean air, unexpected encounters and forgotten history hidden just outside the city. Sometimes the most memorable places are not the ones that overwhelm you, but those that reveal themselves gradually—and Essaouira did exactly that.
I’ll be documenting this adventure along the way — the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africa’s deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. I’ll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.
So, come along for the ride — the long way through Africa.
Peace!
