My journey through Namibia comes to an end in one of the strangest and most fascinating places I visited in the country — Kolmanskop.
Just outside LĂĽderitz, this abandoned diamond-mining town sits in the middle of the Namib Desert, slowly being taken back by the sand. Empty houses, forgotten rooms and dunes pushing their way through doors and windows make Kolmanskop feel like a place frozen in time.
Walking through the old buildings and learning about the history behind the town was a very different way to finish my time in Namibia. It may not have the dramatic landscapes of the roads I travelled further north, but there’s something incredibly photogenic — and slightly surreal — about seeing an entire town being reclaimed by the desert.
After everything Namibia had already shown me — endless landscapes, incredible roads, the Atlantic coast, Windhoek, Walvis Bay and Lüderitz — Kolmanskop became my final stop before continuing south towards South Africa.
And with that, another chapter of this journey comes to an end.
I’ll be documenting this adventure along the way — the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africa’s deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. I’ll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.
So, come along for the ride — the long way through Africa.
Peace!
