I Rode Through Guinea 🇬🇳 ! No Rules, Just Pure Fun & Freedom

After spending the night in Dabola, I continued southeast toward the border with Ivory Coast. The journey began much like the previous days in Guinea, with rough and badly damaged roads slowing progress and demanding constant concentration. Deep potholes, broken surfaces and unpredictable traffic made the first part of the ride tiring, especially on a fully loaded motorcycle.

The conditions finally began to change as I approached Faranah. A newly built tarmac road replaced the damaged surface, immediately transforming the journey. After several difficult days, I could finally relax, maintain a steady pace and enjoy riding without constantly searching for a safe line through potholes and loose ground.

In Faranah, I stopped to refuel and freshen up before beginning the next stage toward Kissidougou. It was a simple break, but a necessary one after the exhausting roads earlier in the day. With fuel in the Africa Twin and the worst surface conditions behind me, I returned to the road feeling considerably more refreshed.

The ride from Faranah to Kissidougou became one of the most enjoyable sections of my journey through Guinea. The tarmac was excellent, the views were impressive and the road passed through small villages filled with everyday life. People gathered beside the road, children watched the motorcycle pass and houses appeared between stretches of green countryside.

After days dominated by difficult roads and physical exhaustion, this section felt like a reward. The ride was smoother, calmer and far more enjoyable, allowing me to appreciate Guinea’s scenery rather than focus entirely on surviving the road. Kissidougou brought me another step closer to Ivory Coast—and for once, the journey there had been relaxed rather than punishing.
