Africa Finally Broke Me โ The Hardest 10 Kilometres of My Journey ๐จ๐ฉ
This episode picks up halfway through those brutal 10 kilometres in the Democratic Republic of the Congo โ already exhausted, already committed, and still trying to reach the paved N1 road towards Muanda.
The worst of the shortcut was still ahead of me. Deep sand, rough terrain, heat and the weight of a fully loaded motorcycle had turned what looked like a simple route on the map into one of the hardest stretches of my entire journey across Africa. At that point, there was no easy way out. I just had to keep moving and get myself and the bike back onto proper road.
Eventually, after what felt much longer than 10 kilometres should ever feel, I finally reached the N1. The moment the tyres touched tarmac again was pure relief.
From there, the journey completely changed. I continued towards Matadi through some incredible Congolese landscapes, crossing bridges and riding through scenery that felt worlds apart from the struggle I had just come through. That contrast is what made this part of the journey so memorable โ one moment completely drained and fighting for every metre, the next riding through some of the most beautiful scenery of the trip.
This was the second half of one of the toughest days I had in Africa, but also one of those rides that reminded me exactly why I wanted to cross the continent by motorcycle in the first place.
Welcome to the DRC.
Iโll be documenting this adventure along the way โ the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you want to ride with me through Africaโs deserts, mountains, chaos, and calm, you can follow the journey on Instagram, and TikTok. Iโll be sharing stories from the road, raw moments, and the reality behind chasing freedom on two wheels.
So, come along for the ride โ the long way through Africa.
Peace!
